my new mutli angled tripod thingy. you can pretty much hang your Camera any which way you want with this baby! its over 7ft tall extened out and weighs about the same as bag of spuds not going anywhere what ever the surface! and mine for the bargin price of £40, awesome!

day45 : This was a trip to a reclamation yard that we have both been driving past and wondering what if we could play in there, so we wondered up and Steve asked. This was also a little play with my new flash learning how to use light is very important and I can see that now ... Amazing what you can do if you just ask..

day47: During a comp in club on the wednesday we saw a shot and Steve suggested we visit as he hadn't seen this place in years. This is the old Brick works not far from where he lives so we took a womble.. It was a shame this was the only interesting shot I could see there... Need to expand my ideas of seeing a shot so that I can improve I think

well it been a while

day 42

Well it been a while due to a little computer problems (now fixed thanks to rich). I will be posting about three a day just to catch up, otherwise ill be spenning most of my nights sat here waiting for the images to load. Day 42 was a georgous day, a trip to Ivy Tower and its very pretty. Day 43 was a peice of lego wrapper late at night after building something for my boy ( a quick snap). Day 44 was my birthday cake :), was lovely to have a treat off my mum. And had a lovely gift off steve a Flash and money towards a new lens , happy Jen.

Now for the other problem I have been having, my camera is broke so I am pushing my old compact untill it comes back from repair (hopefully soon). so I will keep you up dated on how the compact peforms and how my baby does with Nikon... oh and I did see a peek of spring which means a change in pics too :)

North Dock!

Saturday, the english to be beaten in the six nations, on there turf... which makes it sweeter still! a morning of work for my special effects piece and a run to Tesco.. leaving me an hour for a wander down the beach and ice cream!!! (forgot its still February bbrrrrr!!!)

I'm actually quite pleased with this, for one its the dreaded tamron 70-300 which has been a thorn in my side since i got it, so nice its earned its keep!

Asda catches fire where am i.... Tesco, typical!

Seems that Asda had a little bit of a fire, when i was in tesco! typical always miss the action! anyhow couple of pics form the clear up! not all lost i guess, I'm pleased with  these and missed my old 55-200 lens for the VR (vibration reduction) system, the tamron zoom was just too much and too unstable in the low light. so back up on hand with the kit 18-55 lens,  typical that on the way home from work i had also got another shot for the 366 that i liked!!!    Steve!...

llanelli beach

Ok, Llanelli beach is hardly exciting, but it's lovely, its home and its where i been wandering tonight!

i will try not to fill the blog with spring sunsets, but i have missed my walks out across the local beaches and am enjoying the cold air and beautiful skies! i do love it, i must confess..

i had a few scares though scrambling across the rocks for a long exposure shoot so the adventure is still there, lol... unfortunately the image was blander than i had hoped though :(

anyhow day 50 peeps 'DAY 50' a 7th of the way!

I do love a good sunset and the photo opportunities it brings. Cliche? Hell yes, but I really don't care, sea air, a nice evening and my camera, works every time.

Another day, and a quick shot while helping build a wardrobe! well its raining out and frankly I can't be bothered to go far today, tomorrow I will wander and see what the camera see's..

So, how is the 366 going? well, I am enjoying, some days are a chore, some days i get great shots and don't wanna use them for my 366. its opening my eyes to seeing patterns colour and texture everywhere i look, so thats good. I think overall even at day 44 its been worthwhile, I'm learning loads about Photoshop even if its just trying to get the most from a load of old clothes hangers. but most of all I'm learning to carry my camera, stick the little light 35mm F1.8 lens on front and enjoy. Perhaps even carry the flash occasionally and see what opportunities that brings..

So a happy photographer, but definitely one thats waiting for the spring and the lovely walks out down the beach and waterfalls!

The Ivy Tower, Tonna

the beautiful Ivy Tower, perched up high looking over the Neath valley, and yet left sat in the corner of a farmers feild! a lovely day out today, wombling, seeing and scrambling, also stumbled upon a lost cemetery, drowned in a sea of weeds and brambles, hidden tombs and paths made from carved momentous to those passed before. lovely and worth a second visit!

Yes, Ok!!! I know, but really these are the tools of my trade and I spend far to much time rewiring, fixing, replacing batteries and syncing stuff together! Its a tough job and I'm in danger of repetitive strain injury on my thumbs, lol!!!

I brought this guitar of eBay, its a 1975 VOX Standard 25, I couldn't believe my luck when I found it. This model was my first electric guitar it had a stunning cherry wood finish with dimarzio super distortion pick ups and a creamy smooth sound, this version looks like it spent some time in a ditch had crap pick ups and rust, but i love it just the same!

ideas ideas ideas

Got a great load of ideas coming along at the mo, me and Jen have been brainstorming and have a few weekends of arty pics planned out. Its funny how different moods and ideas come and go, but for the moment how the arty side of photography has come into play, making shots rather than capturing shots.

Anyhow, this weekend we will be expanding a theme, playing with water, paint and beetroot juice! and a old fish tank.. That is of course if we get up early enough cos the rugby is on in the PM and that is priority I'm afraid. Anyhow, looking forward to it and to some more arty shots, but also hoping to look at progress over the last 6months and see what we've learnt.it has been an interesting journey that we have gone through, so me and Jen will be putting that blog post together soon.

On the other side of things, we both became members of the llanelli photographic society last night and I had my first competition entry which was exciting and nerve racking, came in 6th out a 33 which I was very pleased with. Next week were both submitting for the 'industrial' themed DPI (projected image) competition so I'm sure there will be some anxious moments there! It is interesting submitting work in this way though and makes you really consider your own work and its value. I think that the club was a great idea (of Jens) and will really help in the coming year as we grow!
